Usually I love Pomerol (and discovering lesser knowns from LaLande-de-Pomerol) but my favorites were hands down Chateau Montrose and the Sauternes (I have a weakness for rich, supple, syrupy golden sweet wines) but the two from St. Julien were phenomenal as well

I’m a ways away from getting the carriage all of the way in but I know my quads and hips thank me for doing it this way every once in a while and the more I practice, the closer it gets

This website, and purchasing Pilates equipment, was something I never thought I would do again. I absolutely love free-lancing and being an IC. But the pandemic has made us all do things we may not have been keen on doing before.

Long back stretch arms (amongst other exercises) felt so nurturing for my body- I don’t know why I do this exercise so seldom. For sure its being added to my weekly routine, bc the tightness in my upper back is all gone and my chest is noticeably more open 🤩

I can’t say it enough- there’ll never be a day that I get bored of this 💜💜💜

Attempting to demo exercises in the advanced repertoire is the most daunting thing but my hope is others will be more uplifting/motivating and not critical. Yes, I know I have a ways to go but I also know my body has accomplished a lot 😉. And the spine corrector helps, immensely!!

All exercises in the system have their objective but present different challenges to each individual. This is why I love teaching private Pilates lessons vs group. Especially with the various apparatus- there are too many moving parts and each client’s body has different needs. (Groups are fun, and beneficial when everyone has enough body awareness to move with proper intention.)

I haven’t done this exercise for months bc my body was feeling weak. I’ve been working my basic and intermediate systems and today I felt compelled to try this exercise out despite there being a lot of room for improvement. Accepting where I am now; keeping it safe but challenging. (My upper back will be something I consistently have to work to stretch 😉)

1. Obligatory Pilates pose (open leg rocker) on a rock in front of Lava Tower
2. Day 3 arriving to Barranco Camp with my guide
3. After I climbed the scary Barranco Wall (no one told me I should have prepped with indoor rock climbing or bouldering 😳), celebrating with a sky jump on the way to Karanga Camp

5. Continuing the day to Barafu Camp (where I settled before summiting)
6. Simply in awe 🤩
7. So close, it’s just an easy 5k, right?

9. I did say I would have an even more epic Tanzanian sunrise coming, this is it. What was completely in my favor was that I summited on the Full Moon 🌕! It is so true what people’s blogs say that have done this, the moon makes the rocks you’re walking up glitter like diamonds, and adds more light than just your headlamp. Starting to watch the sunrise as I turned around to see how far up I had climbed- it was quite literally the most beautiful sunrise I have ever seen.

How do you feel accomplished and defeated at the same time? Climb Kilimanjaro, she’ll have that affect on you, all 19,340 ft (5,895 meters) 🇹🇿🏔🥾

Out of all the places I could have chosen, I narrowed in on Tanzania for a few reasons:
1. bucket list item was to climb Kili
2. Other bucket list items Rio and Petra are kind of off limits due to covid
3. I’m already going to Europe next year for a couple of weddings and also hitting up countries I’ve never been to along the way
4. One more continent done, just two more to go and I’ll have been to all seven

All I asked of myself was to get to the top and to not have to use the bathroom in the most inopportune times (night) and places lol. Idgaf that I looked like the Michelin tire guy 😂- I had 3 layers on the bottom and on top 5: a long sleeve base layer, a zip down long sleeve mid-layer, a Patagonia long sleeve fleece, a Northface 550 down vest, and a Fjallraven 800 down jacket. I was toasty and would rather be ridiculous looking and comfortable than miserably soaking in the rain/snow and uncomfortable.

Would I do it again? Not anytime soon but 100% a different trail, a Patagonia hike, some Colorado 14’ers, or Alaska I’ll be down 😉🥾🏔
Regrets: Not knowing that paragliding down was an option, wtf?! I would have done that (dead serious)
Proud moments: Other than getting to summit, doing the normal duration 7d/6n Macheme route in 6d/5n 🙌🏽, not having any signs of altitude sickness until we started to go up on summit night. I was getting light headed probably at about 17,000 ft and a small headache- I call that a big win.

T-1 day. Elated, excited, and I would be lying if I didn’t say nervous. But it’s all good energy. This is the youngest and healthiest I’ll ever be so now is as good of a time as any to tackle bucket list items. Crediting most of this to Pilates but also to my level of self-discipline, dedication, and hard work (and my miserable stairwell 8x/day)
I know my limits and all I want is the best I can do
